This half day “Assistant’s ACLS Course” coincides with the ACLS & BLS Provider Re-certification course offered to our members, and is also held from 8:00am to 1:00pm. The assistant's program is separate from the oral surgeon’s re-certification program and is designed to cover the scope of the ACLS portion of the oral surgeon’s course, but with emphasis on the material most applicable to the practice of the office-based oral surgeon. This course is only open to CALAOMS members staff.
This course provides expanded familiarity with recognition and management of cardiac emergencies. The practice skill stations allow for "hands-on" experience in applications of the course material. The assistants will find that this program will reinforce the material of our “Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant's” (OMSA) training course and increase their level of competence and confidence in dealing with office emergencies. Prior attendance at one of our OMSA training courses is recommended, but not required, before attending the Assistant’s ACLS course. Attendees receive a certificate of participation only, upon completion of the “Assistant’s ACLS Course”. Neither ACLS Provider nor BLS Provider certifications are offered to staff.
Please note that the only pre-requisite is to provide a copy of the front and back of your current "BLS (Basic Life Support) Provider" classroom based course card (on-line BLS courses are not accepted) to complete your registration. Cards current through the month and year of our course dates are required.
The course is limited to 40 participants. The course schedule, materials and a pretest will be forwarded upon receipt of your registration, course fee and copy of the front and back of your current "BLS (Basic Life Support) Provider" (classroom based) card (on-line BLS courses are not accepted). This program fills quickly, and registrations are taken on a first come, first served basis. We strongly urge early registration to ensure space in the program.
The “Assistant’s ACLS Course” fee includes a workbook, the "2015 Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care", 5 CE hours, and a certificate of completion.
