The “ACLS Provider Manual” & "BLS Provider Manual" are Required and are priced separately. If you have current manuals with the 2015 guidelines, you do not need to purchase new ones. The "2015 Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care for Healthcare Providers" handbook is Optional.
Early registration will allow for mailing time, review of the course manuals and completion of the ACLS “Pre-course Self-Assessment Exam” which is on-line, and required prior to attending the re-certification course.
A course schedule, materials and instructions for taking the pretest on-line will be forwarded upon receipt of your registration, course fee and copies of the front and back of your current ACLS Provider and BLS Provider cards.
Please provide a copy of the front and back of your current "ACLS Provider" and “BLS Provider” cards through the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or a CERP or PACE approved course, to CALAOMS to complete your registration. Cards Current through the month and year of our course dates are required.
The outline of the course will be lecture review, videos, practice skills stations, and ACLS and BLS final exams. We trust that this schedule will both provide ample opportunity for review and increased convenience of time. You will earn 5 (Anesthesia) CE.
Please be sure to review all the material included in the ACLS & BLS Provider Manuals in preparation for the seminar and the final exams.
The only ACLS & BLS course which has been specifically designed and caters to the needs of the oral surgeon. This course is an American Heart Association accredited course and is accepted by the Dental Board of California as the requirement for GA permits and dental licenses. This course offers the camaraderie of learning with your peers and the course Instructors are CALAOMS members.
Also, offered for staff is a modified version of the oral surgeon’s program that is designed to be purely educational and instructional in nature. This is a valuable course and will better prepare the assistant for the management of the cardiac emergency in the OMS office. The Assistants course is limited to 40 participants. If interested, please see the "Assistant's ACLS Course" registration page. Neither ACLS Provider nor BLS Provider certification is offered to the Assistants.
1) Recognize and initiate treatment for pre-arrest conditions that may lead to cardiac arrest.
2) Manage the first 10 minutes of an arrest due to ventricular fibrillation.
3) Correctly treat other arrest rhythms.
4) Be able to choose rhythm appropriate medication consistent with ACLS algorithms.
Cancellations or any changes to your registration are subject to a $25 administration fee or more. Refund requests for fees shall be honored up to 72 hours prior to an event. A seventy-five percent (75%) cancellation fee shall apply to requests received within 48-72 hours preceding the event. No refunds will be made for requests received the day before or the day of the event or subsequent to the event.
